Single Server 3rd Party Corporate AV

I need advice whether I can Install Exchange for Forefront on Single Exchange server. No Edge Server we use 3rd party solution for email routing but The server is behind 3rd party Firewall.

There is also 3rd Party Corporate AV solution installed. Can I Install Forefront for Exchange on my Exchange Server

Does it interfere with any existing setup e.g. Corporate AV or Firewall

Please suggest

Thanks

Hi Jacob,

Please have a look at the following articles.

"If you use a third-party file-level antivirus program on a server containing Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE), to prevent corruption of FPE, you must ensure that the following program folders are not scanned:

  • The folder into which you installed FPE. For more information about the default installation folder, see Default folders.

  • The folder in which you installed Microsoft Exchange Server.

The file-level antivirus scan can also cause a conflict when FPE tries to scan e-mail messages."

"To ensure comprehensive protection, Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) can be deployed on Exchange Edge Transport, Hub Transport, Mailbox server, or combined Hub/Mailbox roles."

Thanks Joyce

but I have more questions related to this

How much time it normally takes to Install it since I have only Server holding all the roles

Does it help in any way to do away with third party smart host ? if I install and setup properly

Regards

Jacob
