Since going to IE8, cannot receive emails with most attachments
I have posted previously that I could not receive any email with a jpg attachment. I note in these forums many posts regarding attachments which cannot be opened. Please note that is NOT my situation. If an email has a certain type of attachment, I simply never receive the message at all. This can have a very chilling effect on your business relationships.I have now positively established that going to IE8 is when this all started. By "positively established" I mean I have un/reinstalled operating systems (which puts me back to IE6), then carefully upgrading (?) to various options (IE7,IE8, SP3) to see when the problem starts. Currently, I am using IE8-SP3, and cannot receive any email that has a jpg, gif or pdf attachment. There may be others, I'm only sure of these. The only thing that has changed from before is that I have now definitely established this all started when I went to IE8. Again, I have gotten to IE8 several ways (directly from 6, or from 7, with SP2 and/or SP3).I prefer not to rehash all that has been posted in the past on this topic, which, unfortunately, has not supplied an answer. I don't mean to squelch the well intended. I was just hoping someone out there would recognize how, or if, IE8 is known to do this, and hopefully what to do about it.BTW, using web based email does not correct the problem. Thanks in advanceDWinXP IE8 SP3 OE61 person got this answerI do too

Bruce - If you send a message to yourself, do you receive it?>>>>>Yes if there'e no attachment Does it show in Sent Items? >>>>Yes Does it show on your mail server's Webmail site? >>>NoWho is your mail server? >>>>>>>dcwis.coIs this a POP3 account? >>>>>>>>Yes What security programs/versions are installed? >>>>>>>>>>.No AV, have MS Essentials installed and currentSteve - I have un/reinstalled IE 6,7,8 in all combuibations of SP2 and 3. No Joy. I have liong suspected Microsoft Security Essentials, although this problem has been going on a lot longer tha MSE has been installed. Just now ( for the umpteen time) I disabled MSE and tried the various to/from with/without attachments again, with some success. I have also tried various "Exclude file types" options on MSE with inconsistent results. It bothers me that the solution might be in MSE when the problem can be started positively, by upgrading IE7 to 8. Every time. And as I have also said, the problem started well before I ever heard of MSE.I will make this Solved, although I don't think it is, and continue to observe if and how future unanticipated messages with attachments behave. I may post back with additional if something specific becomes apparent.Thx all. D
