Since going to IE8, cannot receive emails with most attachments
I have posted previously that I could not receive any email with a jpg attachment. I note in these forums many posts regarding attachments which cannot be opened. Please note that is NOT my situation. If an email has a certain type of attachment, I simply never receive the message at all. This can have a very chilling effect on your business relationships.I have now positively established that going to IE8 is when this all started. By "positively established" I mean I have un/reinstalled operating systems (which puts me back to IE6), then carefully upgrading (?) to various options (IE7,IE8, SP3) to see when the problem starts. Currently, I am using IE8-SP3, and cannot receive any email that has a jpg, gif or pdf attachment. There may be others, I'm only sure of these. The only thing that has changed from before is that I have now definitely established this all started when I went to IE8. Again, I have gotten to IE8 several ways (directly from 6, or from 7, with SP2 and/or SP3).I prefer not to rehash all that has been posted in the past on this topic, which, unfortunately, has not supplied an answer. I don't mean to squelch the well intended. I was just hoping someone out there would recognize how, or if, IE8 is known to do this, and hopefully what to do about it.BTW, using web based email does not correct the problem. Thanks in advanceDWinXP IE8 SP3 OE61 person needs an answerI do too

If you send a message to yourself, do you receive it? Does it show in Sent Items? Does it show on your mail server's Webmail site? Who is your mail server? Is this a POP3 account? What security programs/versions are installed? This is a strange one indeed.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Well, the obvious thing is to uninstall IE8, if you think that is the issue. I'm using OE now with IE8 installed and do not see the behavior you are describing. If it happens in web-based mail, then its clearly not an OE issue. I would uninstall IE8 and figure it out from the web interface and then see if OE works correctly after that. IE8 install has no effect on OE's functionality to send and receive. steve <Sabre Dave> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I have posted previously that I could not receive any email with a jpg attachment.
