Shutdown/Startup wierdness
Ok, I have never seen this before, so I am curious if someone might have an answer... I have an r500 lenovo thinkpad running Windows 7 Enterprise. When I shutdown, the computer shutsdown normally, then restarts on its own. Even if I hold the power button until it shutdowns, it will still restart... The only way it will stay off is if I unplug and remove the battery... I have also turned off wireless and removed from the wired network... Thoughts???

Hi lcarke22, Thanks for posting in TechNet forum. When the system is shut down, the only factor that may lead the restarting is BIOS/firmware. My suggestion is update the hardware drivers from Lenovo official website, especially for the BIOS. If the issue still persists, please contact the support of Lenovo. Thanks for your understanding. This is likely (as stated by Miya) a hardware issue. You didn't specify whether your box got this behaviour right from the start (when you bought it), or if it just suddenly showed. You might want to try another power supply. Good luck Rem

Thanks for all the replies. Even though I was curious about the reason and I suspected software and not hardware, I did not have time to troubleshoot, so I re-imaged and no longer have the issue. Thanks,
