After users click on Shut Down the screen of tablets (both Dell and Microsoft) instantly shuts off so that they don't know the status of the shut down. This often means that they then close up the attached keyboards and the tablets sleep in a 'Shutting Down' state. Then when they hit the power button next day they find they have to wait for the tablet to power down before powering it on again.

Is there a way to stop this happening? To keep the screen on through the power off sequence?

According to my experience, I always wait for the power light shut down completely and then we could ensure the machine has been shut down completely.

For your situation, we could try to modify the power plan to disable the hiberante completely or disable the powersaving of the display.
