Shortcut to directly connect to a broadband network
Win7 Pro. I have a broadband connection with a mobile carrier and I would like to create a shortcut on desktop to directly connect to it. Now I have to click on the systray network icon, click on broadband connection and click "connect". Is there a way to create this shortcut ? Thanks.

Hi, According to my test, you can create Shortcut to open the Network Connections page.
1. Right click on a empty area on desktop, and click on New and Shortcut.
2. Type rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL ncpa.cpl into the location area, and click on the Next.
3. Type Network Connections for the name, and click on the Finish button.
Double click it and you will open the Network Connections page. You need to choose the connection and then connect.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Vivian, all you need is ncpa.cpl as the command. W7 does the rest. Barb Bowman

Hi, actually I already created a shortcut to the network connection on my desktop ... but I would go further ... Isn't there a command that DOES the connection (similar to press "Connect" button when I select the connection) directly ? Thanks.

Create a GodMode folder on desktop by following the steps below and you can control almost everything. : ) haha
Step 1: Right click.
Step 2: Click create folder.
Step 3: Name your sparkly, new folder this, "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and press enter.
Step 4: Blink as the folder changes form to look like the control panel.
Proceed forward everyday!

Hi Fabri,I am afraid there is no way to create a direct connection icon. Some third party dial-up program can achieve this function. If no dial-up program is needed for your network connection, clicking the network icon and then choose connection to connect is a by designed feature. You can set this connection as default which will be convenient to connect. Thank you.

right click on the two screens - bottom right corner ...click on "network and sharing centre"
on this page , click on something which says " manage network connections"
you should find two icons..one under broadband and one under LAN or high speed internet
drag the broadband icon to the desktop or make a shortcut.
clicking on this shortcut skips one step and connects you directly ...
hope it is what you were looking for

I have sprint aircards. What I do is create a new connection inside IE. Start IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, Add, New dial connection, dial #777, no username or password. Create a shortcut to this connection. The telephone
number might vary from provider to provider but this works greats for me.

Look at your system tray, click that "monitor with the fork thing" icon and double-click Dial-Up and VPN and choose your internet connection from there and select Connect. Click the Network Connection icon in your
system tray and click Open Network and Sharing Center. On the left panel, click Change Adapter Settings. Right click a connection and select 'Create Shortcut'.
