Sharing using WMPNetworkSvc
I'm sharing files on two different harddisks using WMPNetworkSVC on Windows 7 Pro. One harddisk works fine and the other doesn't. I believe the issue is the following. The harddisk that succesfully shares has an extra user called ' WMPNetworkSvc' which has read access, where the harddisk that does not share doesn't. However since 'WMPNetworkSvc' is neither a valid User, Group or Built-in security principal I can't add permissions for it to the faulty harddisk. So I can't get it to share any files... I made a screenshot; http://test.kolky.nl/weird.png (HD 1 is working, HD 2 is not) How do I solve this problem?

Hello,Try to add permissions for "Network service" group on HD2:1. Open Security tab of HD 2. Add a group "Network service".2. Add permissions for "Network service" group. Then try to access HD2. Thomas77

I had a similar problem and I think you need to add Read permissions for: NT Service\WMPNetworkSvcStefan Krueger, Microsoft MVP - Windows Installer, www.InstallSite.org
