Sharing drives between windows 7 and vista
*Desktop with windows 7 x64 home premium + laptop with windows vista x64 home premium* I shared my desktop's D:\ and F:\ drives through network and sharing center with full control to my laptop. Everything is fine but, i want to know if there is a way to check the hard disk space left in the drives itself ? Copying files have been complicated because i do not actually know how much space i have left. thx

well on any drive you should just right click and click properties and in the general tab it should tell you how much space you have. thanks

the problem is, sharing a drive means that my desktop will create a shortcut to the folder. right clicking it doesnt do anything the D:\ or F:\ that im seeing is a folder , not a drive in the network and sharing center

Hi, To view the left disk space, you should boot on the Desktop locally and open the drive’s Properties in Windows Explorer. It cannot know the disk space left from the shared folder shortcut. Thanks, Novak
