Hi, i am trying to access the c drive on my new windows 7 machine (running on Lenovo thinkpad) via \\computername\c. I shared it as "c" using the advanced shairng option in windows 7. No matter how i change permissions, i cannot get it to work.It comes back saying network path not found. It is not a DNS issue and i can succesfully ping the machine on the network.Any suggestions?ThanksKVJohn

Hi, I would like to confirm what operating system is trying to connect to Windows 7. Can you access other sharing folders? To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest the following steps: 1. If any security program is installed, please temporarily disable it. 2. Refer to the following article to configure the sharing settings such as turn off password protection and enable the Guest account. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx 3. Right click on the C drive and choose Properties. On the sharing tab, click Advanced sharing, click Permissions button, Give Full control permission to Everyone. In addition, on the Security tab, give full permission to Everyone. 4. It is not safe to share the entire system partition, I suggest creating a sharing folder and move the files you want to share to this folder. So here is the trick that fixed the problem...The file and print sharing was disabled (not checkec) on the actual NIC card properties.It is a shame that i had to open a case with microsoft to get this resolved. As i said i check all permissions and sharing stuff a million times, before giving up and calling support. Thanks to Lenovo for shipping the laptop with this feature turned off, which the MS rep. said is usually enabled :o). I switched form dell to try LENOVO and this is my first surprise.KVJohn
