Sharing a folder removes permissions
Further to my post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/4f809d3f-1ea0-42d0-8f01-f7acd493cec0/For example, I have a folder with permissions:Authenticated Users - Modify -inherited from parentSYSTEM - Full control -inherited from parentmy_computer_name/Administrators - Full Control -inherited from parentmy_computer_name/Users - Read and Execute -inherited from parentIn Vista if I share the folder with my_computer_name/my_user_name it adds my_computer_name/my_user_nameto the security permissions, eg:Authenticated Users - Modify -inherited from parentSYSTEM - Full control -inherited from parentmy_computer_name/Administrators - Full Control -inherited from parentmy_computer_name/my_user_name - Full Control - <not inherited>my_computer_name/Users - Read and Execute -inherited from parentIn Windows 7 7600.16835if I do this, it removes Authenticated Users and my_cumputer_name/Users and removes inherited permissions, eg:SYSTEM - Full control -<not inherited>my_computer_name/Administrators - Full Control -<not inherited>my_computer_name/my_user_name - Full Control -<not inherited>The folder then gets a lock icon put on it. Remove sharing and it still has a lock on it.My question - why is Windows 7 removing the "Authenticated Users" and "Users" group and replacing inherited permissions. Why is this behaviour different to Vista or is it some kind of policy setting?

Please see the following thread for a more detailed description of this policy and more information on the leaked builds. Windows 7 Unofficial Builds This thread will be locked.
