Sharing NAS Directories Mess

Hi, I have a problem, I had two computers connected via a network sharing a folder using a homegroup, everything worked flawlessly.  I recently added a NAS, I can ping the NAS, as well as access the NAS control panel, from both host and client, but I can't access or map any folders on the NAS, all I get is a; You might not have permissions to use this network resource.  Contact the admin of this server to find out if you have access permissions

I was informed to remove all computers from the homegroup, as real networking doesn't rely on homegroups, sorta makes sense, homegroup is for easy setup, I was able to remove the homegroup from the client computer, in this case Windows 8.1 not the host computer, Windows 7, without an error that I can't remove the host computer from the home group.

As it stands, my shared folder is not accessible between computers, that worked before I added the NAS, and I can't access the NAS from the client computer (Win 8).  What can I do to get this working ?

Hi

The share folder with home group member is little bit different with workgroup, by default these folders is only share with home group members and only have read permission. Work group members dont have permission to access these folders by default. When you remove it from homegroup, these folder will be no longer shared any more. Id suggest you check these folders permission setting and re-share these folders under workgroup.

About NAS, please check on that if your NAS is pingable from Windows 8 machine. I suspect that this is a network connection problem.

Hi, first off, the NAS is pingable from the Windows 8.1 machine, but I can't map any folders on the NAS as a drive in Windows 8.1, as this is the error I get ?

Why when I go to Control Panel > HomeGroup just below the words "Share with other home computers" these two dialog warnings switch, literally every second or two, how can I prevent this as I don't want to use homegroups any more, rather regular networking ?

And about the HomeGroup, the message shows one of your station has created a home group and other stations are detecting it, please the information and find that station and navigate to Control Panel\Network and Internet\HomeGroup, click Leave the home group under other homegroup actions
