Shares on Workgroup not working
I have 3 computers in the same workgroup all running Win7Ultimate all were built at the same time. I also have a WinServer 2008r2 fileserver. I have an Admin account and a user account on each computer box the Admin account requires a password. I set all these shares up at the same time using the same method. ComputerA can access all shares and the fileserver across the network just fine, no problems. This computer can actually see and edit the shares also. ComputerB can access acess the fileserver no problem and has full Administrator permissions. It cant access ComputerA it pops a "Logon Failure" error but doesnt even prompt for a user/pass. ComputerC can be seen but it is only in Read-Only view. ComputerC can access acess the fileserver no problem and has full Administrator permissions. But cannot access ComputerA it also pops the "Logon Failure" error like B does. This can pop a user/pass prompt for ComputerB but when I put in the user/pass for the Admin on that box it errors. I have tried using "ComputerB\Admin" and the correct password but still just errors. I followed the steps in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/028add62-9ad4-4f23-a584-c0d504b664f4 to get ComputerA working and seeing everything, however those steps are not working for B and C. Yes, all computers are on the same workgroup. Network discovery is on and is finding the PCs, just can't connect. I have gone in under Computer Management>System Tools>Shared Folders>Shares for each box and ensured that there is an "Everybody" and "Administrators" who have rights to at least see the shares if not access them. Still no go for B and C to access shares. I just get an error that says: "Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer". It hasnt ever asked me to type a password except on my file server. I want all of these computers to be able to function like ComputerA is across the network.

Hi, you can first try this on ComputerA: 1. Type "CMD" in Search Programs and files - right click on the icon in the pane and choose "Run as Administrator". 2. Type net user guest /active:yes Then press Enter. 3. Check the following Group Policy, by using Start - Run - gpedit.msc Local computer policy | Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | User Right Assignment | Access this computer from the network and see the user you try to logon listed. Hope this helps! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
