Shared hp LaserJet1100
Problem: Installation of shared HP LaserJet 1100 on Windows 7.So I have a home network:Win7 (x64) <-> router <-> Win2000 -> Hp LaserJet1100When I had Win Vista everything worked very well but now I can't install driver for a shared printer on that Win2000. I tried Windows Update, manual installation of drivers (Vista compatibile) but none is working. I can access shared files on that Win2000, I can see that printer shared on network, but it looks like I'm unable to install those drivers? Maybe some network configuration issue?(I post in Networking forum because I found solution for direct connection of that printer to computer with Win7 but it doesn't work in my case)

So it's working now, but solution is:1) Add new local printer.2) Use existing port from list (let say LPT1, not really matter)3) Get drivers from Windows Update.. then choose HP and HPLaserJet 1100 (MS)4) Finish installation by clicking next next next.. don't print test page.5) Right-click on printer and choose "Printer proporties" and choose "ports" tab.6) Add new port, choose local port and as a name type \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARED_PRINTER_NAME (in my case \\OFFICE\HPLaserJet1100), and tick checkbox at this port and Apply settings.7) Printer is working now! But, under Vista it was working a way better, it was removing printer from list when OFFICE computer was turned off. Any idea how to do that? (i'm halfly satisfied, it's installed as local printer, not as network printer)

Hi, Thank you for your reply. Please try to add the shared printer with Add Printer wizard in Windows 7: Install a printer Please note the section “Network printers”. In addition, I would like to share the following for your reference: Why can't I print? Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hello,>Install a printer >Please note the section “Network printers”.So I tried it many times, but when I click to install it can't find any driver for that printer (weird, even when it's already installed the way I described above). I can see it listed in available printers..I will check workgroup names setting when I come home, but I think those are correct.I had that problem on previous installation of Win7 too..
