Setting up a Workgroup with Win7 Pro and Win XP
I would like to set up a Workgroup for a small office. The server is running Microsoft Server 2003. This holds all our files etc. Presumably, I should start the setup on this server. The computers which I need to add are as follows: 2 x PCs running Windows XP Professional 2 x PCs running Windows 7 Professional. I would like our printer and plotter to be used by all four computers. Can anyone tell me how to set this up - hopefully avoiding the problems which I have been reading about on the forum with respect to computers not being visible. Each person needs to be able to access the files on the server. Advice would be appreciated.

Regardless of the version of Windows: The golden rules of peer-to-peer networking are: 1. Each machine must have knowledge of the credentials of the user account connecting to it. 2. Each user account must have a password. For example, If a user called 'Peter' on computer A wants to connect to another machine (call it machine B), then there must exist a user account on machine B called 'Peter', and the passwords must match. And so on for all users. If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote. If it answered your question, remember to mark it as an "Answer".
