Setting up COMs with Digi RealPort and Dyndns
I have set up Digi RealPort on my XP Pro, creating COM3 thru COM6 (4 ports) to work with Digi PortServer TS4. Used RealPort Setup Utiltity. TS4 was connected with serial cable to PC and set up for DHCP. It connected as 192.168.1.103.The virtual COM ports show Location "on Standard Realport Device (192.168.1.103)".I intend to use the TS4 at a remote location, and have set up a Dyndns account. My question is: How do I direct the virtual COM ports to a Dyndns name address (ie xxx.dyndns.org) rather than the local IP address (192.168.1.103)? 1 person needs an answerI do too

HiIt does not matter what you internal concoction is at a certain point you system has to obtain an External IP in order to connect to the Internet.DynDNS has a small application that you download and install on your computer. The application runs in the background, it connects to DynDNS and tells it what you current External IP is.A local IP cannot be transmitted through the Internet; locally the computer is reached via open ports toward the computer.E.g. If a computer runs a remote application on port 55555.Typing from remote name.dyndns.com:55555 should go to the open port 55555 on the remote system. Jack, MVP-Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET
