Set protection to folder.
Hi! Win7 x64 0. I want to block rename & delete to some specific folders. 1. Del protection to a folder, applied directly, allows it renamed. 1.1. The folder can't be deleted, can be renamed. Everything inside can't be. 2. I don't want to mess with the entire root by principle. 2.1. I want to secure just my folders. Second angle: For kids. This friend's computer, with a 5 year old. I should block everything the child himself modifies in the system / important folders, and allow him to use up anything, and allow the programs inside to change their own files. Edit Please excuse some of the retarded developers at Opera, who in 2011 can't fix the problem of keying {Enter}.

Hi, You can set the permission for different users of the folders. It is available on security tab in folder properties. In this situation, you need to create a standard user account for other people using. Hi! Folder -> delete protection -> rename still works. Solution please! Do you have a script for these answers? Did you write all this with correct spelling by hand? I desire to not receive spanish armada answers and I believe this elaborated fancy way of foruming is counterproductive, unintuitive, bewildering, extremely time consuming, tedious, fallacious, self destructive. None of that helps. None of those are my problems. My single problem is that: when I protect a folder from delete, it can still be renamed; but I want it immune to renaming. I know I'm talking in vain, but still: !Adopt a format like my second line here!

Hi, I mean you can set the folder permission via its Security tab. Here are the details method. 1. Create a new administrator account such as TEST. 2. Right click the folder you want to set, select properties. 3. On Security tab, click Advanced button. 4. On Owner tab, verify Current owner is your current account. If not, click Edit to change it, replace owner on subcontainers and objects 5. On Permission tab, click Change Permission. 6. Click Add…, type Administrators, then click OK… Apply to This folder, subfolders and files Delete subfolders and files -> Deny Delete -> Deny 7. Click Add…, type Administrators, then click OK… Apply to Subfolders and files only Create files / write data -> Deny Create folders /append data -> Deny Delete subfolders and files -> Deny Delete -> Deny 8. After that, login with TEST user, it can rename the host folder but cannot rename the subfolder and files. The folder cannot be deleted. If you want to finish the task with script, please post to Official Scripting for help. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ITCG/threads/ Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
