Set EAP default behaviour NOT to validate server certificate
Hello,
Is it possible to change the default behaviour of W7 when joining an Enterprise network secured with PEAP and CHAPv2 so that the PC does not attempt to validate the server certificate? We have a cascading set of RADIUS rules so that domain machines connect
using a pre-installed certificate, but that non domain machines connect using domain user credentials. Our staff and students who bring in their Mac laptops have no problems just joining the network by supplying their credentials when they select to join the
network via its SSID, but Windows 7 users must manually create the connection through a somewhat laborious process and unselect the validate server certificate option in PEAP configuration. This appears to happen because the default behaviour for joining the
network in W7 is to validate the certificate.
I am looking for a (hopefully) simple method that we could advise our students to use to disable this default validation behaviour rather than having to manually setup the wireless connection, which frequently leads to user frustration and heavy calls on
the time of the helpdesk.
