I don't know why SP3 takes a toll on my computer, I do notice a big difference in performance, programs load slower, frequent program stops responding, I hate the idea of having so many Service Packs for something, I want an answer to why SP2 runs better than SP3. I read reviews from alot of people online and say the same thing. Windows XP SP3 is a problem! Now I cannot remove it without having programs act up or not opening at all. I want a resolution to this matter. It seems its Microsofts way to forcing people to buy new OS's.Mark H3 people need an answerI do too

I cannot say I experienced an issues when running sp3 on 2 PC's You might want to check what hw driver updates are avilable from your PC maker or hw makers. And what third party apps you have running in the background eg Internet Security apps etc

I too have experienced indications SP3 uses more system resources than SP2, resulting in a slower experience on lower-specced hardware. Of course with support for SP2 ending soon it makes little sense to keep using it. Has there been any word from MS on the issue?
