Serious issues with W7 desktops on Svr 2008R2 domain
Hi there, I'm having this irritating problem on a small Server 2008 R2 domain... Since last week every machine on the network has been running like a dog. Network drives and redirected folders take about a minute to populate their contents, sometimes they crash. Internet Explorer is the main problem for the client, the home page opens relatively fast, but any page you browse to will take 1-2 minutes to load (the likes of Google, even) or IE will just crash. I mention this is a domain environment, because when you remove a PC from the domain, everything is fine. You can open about twenty tabs at the same time and all web pages will load fast with no problems. I have done/ruled out the following on one PC (all PC's on domain are identical - Windows 7 Pro, HP 500b Microtowers. Also the DC is a Proliant ML110): Disabled group policies (Folder redirection for My Docs, Favourites and AppData was enabled on Wednesday) Removed Windows updates installed last week. Uninstalled antivirus (this was driving disk IO crazy on resource monitor) Restarted Windows with only Microsoft services running Updated BIOS and drivers to no avail Here are some things worth noting: The previous weekend an Exchange server was built, added to domain, made a domain controller etc and was disconnected for shipping to their overseas office. I've noted id:5008 DFS errors in the logs since last weekend. I'm wondering if this could be affecting things? I noticed tonight that there were two seperate policies that had folder redirection set up for My Docs, leading to the same path. One was enabled weeks ago, the second one was the aforementioned policy put in place this last week. I can't think what else to add as I've exhausted my brain with this tonight, but if there are any confusions I'll gladly clear up.. Thanks, Pete
