Separating Right Click Menu System Items
It's probably too late, but I have had a problem with every version of Windows and would hope to get it fixed in this version. Please fix it so that we can adjust the right click menu on items that we have never been able to adjust. We have to rename a lot files that we get. However, Microsoft has found it necessary to put "delete" right underneath "rename" and of course we end up deleting files. When these files are on a network drive, they are gone. Not in recycle bin. Just gone.Same thing happens in Outlook, when you open an email and right click an attachment, "Save As" is right above "Remove", and guess what, they are gone. Not recycled bin. Gone. Please make it to where we can move or remove the option to delete files on right click menus.Thank you for your consideration.

Yup.. It's likely to be too late. But hey, you never know... You ARE right, however - that IS a royal PITA... Hate when that happens. There ARE, however, ways to protect yourself... Some third party software - such as Norton's Protected Recycle Bin (at least, back in the day) used to protect stuff being deleted from a network share from vanishing into thin air. (I can't believe I just endorsed a Symantec product. I feel I need a shower...) Of course, I haven't used it since the Windows 2000 days and the package it came with (Norton Utilities or Systemworks) is no longer being offered... THE one thing it did do properly was protect you even if you deleted something off a Network share. There may be other utilities out there that will do the same kind of thing. Google IS your friend.

I agree that the placement in the menu is not the best, but any slide-away of the mouse resulting in an inadvertent clicking of "delete" is normally inconsequential, because there will be a dialog asking you if you really want to delete the file(s). Unless, that is, you have done the very unwise thing to disable said dialog, in which case you have only yourself to blame, should a loss of data occur because of that.

Have you actually tried this??? There will be NO dialog asking you if you are sure you really want to delete the file. It is simply gone. There is no way to "disable" this on a network shared drive. And yes, on my own computer, I have disabled that annoying message, as I know that if I accidentally delete something, I can always find it in the recycle bin.
