Security updates for this month have broken remote assistance
Hi, I am still investigating this but this month's security updates which include: Windows6.1-KB2497640-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2511455-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2508429-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2508272-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2446709-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2509553-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2510531-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2491683-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2503658-x86.msu NDP40-KB2446708-x86.exe Windows6.1-KB2506212-x86.msu Windows6.1-KB2506223-x86.msu have broken remote assistance. Using msra /offerra immediately fails with "Your offer to help could not be sent". In the event log under Remote Assistance I see: There was a problem interacting with COM object 833E4010-AFF7-4AC3-AAC2-9F24C1457BCE. An outdated version might be installed, or the component might not be installed at all. One of the updates appears to have removed the string value "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole\EnableDCOM". Resetting HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole\EnableDCOM=Y fixes this, I'm investigating further. Cheers, Rob
