Security software log indicates considerable unauthorized inbound activity.  How to be sure Windows updates are getting through?
After being unable (despite repeated help from Microsoft) to re-install the MS Security Essentials program, I had to just go with the free McAfee Security Suite provided by my ISP. I've noted the "Inbound Activity" log has been showing numerous unauthorized attempts to access my computer...usually a specific port, such as what is used for "Remote Assistance/Access." In nearly every back trace I ran on the IP address shown in the log, the originating IP address was in China, South America, Amsterdam, etc and was routed through other countries, including 1 - 4 servers here in the U.S before reaching me. I have adjusted the security software in each case to "Ban the originating IP address." My computer is set to receive Microsoft updates on a regular daily time. How can I know from WHERE the Microsoft updates are coming so I don't inadvertently "ban" Microsoft's IP address? Many thanks for any help!1 person needs an answerI do too
