Security issue - permission problem.
Hi, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate I was trying to create user account which could only print via network. When I finished with parental control settings, I wanted to restrict some files and folders on my c: drive and by mistake highlighted "Full Control = Deny" (Computer>c:>properties>Security>Edit>Users). And now I can't even download anything, nor access anything, tried CACLS, restored system from Win 7 DVD (not helped). Access Is Denied error comes out everywhere! I can't reinstall win 7, there too many data that will be lost. Please give me some solution!

Hi, If you have another administrator account, please log in another administrator account and change the permissions back for the current user account. Otherwise, try opening a command prompt and enable the built-in administrator account, type: net user administrator /active: yes, then log in the built-in administrator account to change the permissions back. If you can’t launch the command prompt within Windows, please use Windows 7 installation disc to boot in WinRE and open a command prompt to enable the built-in administrator account. Dale, Thanks for the answer, I've already tried using built-in Administrator, but no use. I think all users on my machine are"blocked".

Hi, You could use Icacls to modify and view NTFS permissions for files and folders. Please visit the following references: Icacls Resetting NTFS files security and permission in Windows 7 RC If you want to reset all security settings to the default in Windows 7, you can use the following command line: secedit /configure /db defltbase.sdb /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /verbose Best Regards Dale Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you.

Hi If you could login to your Windows 7 now, one thing you could do is to: Go to C->properties->Security Tab. In the security tab, then click on the advanced button Then click on the owner tab Then click on Edit from there you could take the ownership of the drive which had a different NTFS permission once you got the ownership, then you could change ACLs according to your desired config remember one thing: you need to log on using an account with the administrator privilege Cheers
