Security Event Viewer Shows Multiple Login Errors When I Change User Accounts
Hi, when I looked in my Security Event Viewer I saw multiple failed login attempts for every user on my laptop (I have several versions of myself and also space for other users). That day I had gone into User Accounts to change a few. That same day I'd been getting virus warnings in Windows. I changed the accounts after getting the virus warnings; I am not sure when the login errors appeared in the event viewer -- before or after I changed the accounts and whether they were related to my changing the accounts or to the virus attempts.Every day I login, even though I type my password correctly, I now see a failed login attempt for myself. In addition, I went and changed account info again for other id's and the next day in the event viewer saw multiple failed login attempts for every user again.Does changing account info result in a failed login attempt warning in the security event viewer? I really do not know.Thanks.--C. E. Whitehead 1 person needs an answerI do too

I suspect this behavior's related to the infections discussed in your other recent thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xprepair/thread/a303b084-1791-4248-9453-eddd17fc3d49/ ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (IE, Mail, Security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft

So this is part of an infection? Arggh! Thanks. I did worry about that but since it corresponded with my activities . . . I guess it could still be an infection. Best,--C. E. Whitehead
