Security Center is turned off and there is no Security Service listed under services
I have a Window Security Alert that shows me that the Security Center is turned off. When I attempt to turn it on I get the message: The Security Center service can't be started. When I start my services program I see no listing for Security Service. Is there anything short of re-installing Vista Ultimate that I can check or correct to get this service running?

Hi Roger, Thanks for posting here! From the post, I understand that you received error "The Security Center service can't be started" when trying to turn on it in Security Center. Also, this service cannot be found. Roger, I'd like to confirm if you have used services.msc to locate the "Security Center service", if not, I suggest we perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. - Start or Pearl> right click on computer and open manage - Click on the arrow in from of Services and Applications - Select Services - Located the Security Center Service - Right clicked on the service and open Properties - Set the service startup type to Automatic (delayed start) and click on apply - Next under Service Status click on the "start" button. Best regards,

UnfortunateyI have Vista Home that is experiencing the same fault. The laptop had a trojan which has been removed, but the Security Centre service is not available in the services listing. I'm hopingthere is a way to reinstall the service without reloading the whole system. Searching the net hasn't been toof fruitful yet. Some help would be appreciated if someone has managed tofix the same problem before...

After searching, this is the only response that has gotten me further along to solving this issue for a friend. Going through those steps and clicking start under Service Status gives me the following error: Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion. A little background for this system, the friend picked up that obnoxious "Win 7 Anti-spyware" malware. After getting it removed and cleaning up everything else on the system (utilizing AVG Free, Malwarebytes, and Spybot), I ran into the Security Center issue. So now, after looking through most of the other related issues, I am at a loss. Any help would be great, thanks.
