Search with IP from Windows 7
Hello, one of the ways in Windows XP I am used to connect to other PCs in intranet is searching with the IP for the specific machine I want to connect to; that is to say right click on the "My Newtwork Places" icon on the desktop then select "Search for Computers" and finally input the IP I'm interested in. Is there a way of doing the same thing on Windows 7 Pro x64? Win+Ctrl+F does not seem to let me search with IP. Thank you Regards NP

Hi, Based my research, Windows 7 may do not have a search for computer via IP address.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

I've never heard of a way to do this. Seems like a slight security risk. there are third party applications that will scan a specific range of ip address and bring back computers who have been assigned an ip in the address range specified. i believe netscanner or ipscan are good applications

I'd like to avoid other software. I'd like to be able to do it with only Windows-stuff, like I do it with XP.
