Search doesn't find control panel entries

In Windows 7 when I pressed Win + 'KEYB' or Win + 'UPDATE' I get a bunch of entries from Control Panel. But in Windows 8.1 I get nothing even thou I have enabled search everywhere.

ps. The answer here does NOT fix my problem:

Hi,

What do you mean by pressed Win + 'KEYB' or Win + 'UPDATE'?

Also, you can try this command to enable the windows search engine:

dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename=SearchEngine-Client-Package

By that I mean pressing the 'WIN' key and typing in 'KEYB' or 'UPDATE' or 'MOUSE', ...

Any of this entries returns nothing in the search.

And also that dism command did not help

ps. It appears as thou nothing that is searched via pressing the 'WIN'+'W' results in any results

Tried all the proposed fixes non helped.

So I guess a lot of us who updated from W8 to W8.1 have this bug.

I am also a developer and I really can not understand how M$ can still neglect this bug.

Probably because not enough people who are seeing it are giving enough details.  Notice that one resolution involved getting a new Windows product key?  What was the original version?  What was the final version?

Hi,

Lets go to the services manager to check  if the Windows Search service is enabled.

If everything is ok,  please check if there are any registry under this path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\

No other advice?

ps. Installed classic shell and there the search for control panel entries work. So I guess the metro UI is not showing things.

note to self: really have to find the time to reinstall Windows 7
