Screensaver logon problem
Windows 7 - and its wonderful problems Hardware : A tablet-pc Toshiba Protege M780. i7 cpu M640 @ 2.8 Ghz, 8GB installed memory, 320 GB harddisk, windows 7 professional 64 bit. FYI : for whatever reason I login with one domain (dce.sss.com), but ACCESS is an alternate name for this domain, but it is not recognized at all When I am idle for 600 secs my screensaver comes on (group policy setting) and I need a password to start working again. But this process is a long one as described below 1. Coming out screen lock is a long process, steps listed below : a. First cancel “ACCESS\user”. If you type in the password, the error message is “There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request”. (Is it possible that the network is also disabled when screensave occurs? b. Then “switch User” c. CNTL-ALT-DELETE to get logon screen d. Accept Standard legal notice from company e. Choose “Other user”, because “ACCESS\user” is still logged in f. Login in finally and it takes you right back where the screenlocked, but you will need the six step process to come out of screensave. I tried to regedit and take out all the reference to "ACCESS" and it worked, but once I reboot, it goes back to the same problem. thanks rungun

Hi, In order to narrow down the issue, I suggest to perform these tests: 1 If it convenient, temporally remove out of the domain, return to workgroup to test logon after screensaver. 2 Logon with Clean Boot 3 Temporally disable firewall and antivirus program 4 Rename your profile, then logon again. Windows will recreate a profile to you. Then test it with the new profile. Hope that helps. Leo Sadly I cannot remove out of the domain even when I am not on the network. The issue happens whether I am on the network OR not. I do a clean boot, but cannot disable firewall or anitvirus (group policy implemented) Cannot rename profile either (I tried in the past and it says that profile is in use and does not let me rename it) So I am still stuck with the hassle whenever my screen locks out. Interestingly when did a NSlookup for the two (dce.sss.com), and ACCESS, they point to the same DNS server (a good thing), but dce.ss.com gives nothing else (no Ip address) , but ACCESS gives "a non-authrative answer" as a different ip address
