Screen Saver and Power issues
This used to happen sporadically when I would install a fresh copy of Windows 7 (Even since the RC), but it had gone away for a long while, and is now back again full force. I have my screen saver set to 10 minutes, and my monitor set to shut off after 15 minutes. Since about a week ago, neither will trigger as expected. I've seen the screen saver come on sometimes, but the monitor will not shut off. And just now, after leaving it for 3 hours, neither one triggered. I've noticed the monitor shut off only once maybe in a week. What can I do to help diagnose this problem? (I'm not using any wireless input devices. I used to have a Microsoft wireless mouse/keyboard combo, but threw it away months ago. Formatted since, so not using the old drivers) Also, on a related, but different subject, I can't figure out why my computer refuses to turn off and stay off. Sometimes when I shut down or hibernate, it will turn right back on after 2-3 seconds being off. I've checked the ACPI settings in my BIOS, and Wake on LAN and other related functionality is off. Can windows even have any control over this, or is this a hardware issue? A+, Network+, MCSA, MCTS

· As many devices can wake up the computer, we need to disable them one by one to troubleshoot the problem. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Open a command prompt and run the following command: powercfg -devicequery wake_armed 2. Try to disable each of these devices above one by one and test the problem until you find the culprit that is waking up the computer: powercfg -devicedisablewake "device name" 3. Once you find the one that is causing problems, you can re-enable the other devices: powercfg -deviceenablewake "device name" Regarding the problematic device, it is recommended to install the driver and contact manufacturer to address the problem. I do believe I solved it. It turns out that it wasn't related to ACPI issues at all. I had a scheduled task that would interrupt the screen saver and the turning off of my monitor. I've increased the repeat interval of the scheduled task, and now it will still run without bringing my computer back out of S1 power mode.
