Scheduled task at logon Win7 Pro
Hello all, I work for a school and im trying to figure out a way to force extended desktop at login. Basically what i want to happen is when the user logs on the display mode is set to extended, there is then a shortcut to display switch on the desktop should they want to clone (wont go into the reasons for needing to do this). batch/cmd/vbs files cant be used. I created a scheduled task to run at any user logon with the params displayswitch.exe /extend the problem arises as the task is run straight away at log on so before any of the display settings are even loaded. I tried a delay of 35 seconds (average logon time is 30) and this worked for me. The next problem came when the user logs for the first time it can take upto 90 secs to get fully logged in and a profile made by which time the task has already run. I obviously cant delay the task for 90 seconds. Am i going about this the right way or is there a simpler way? Also am i going to run into problems running this with limited users? they do have access to screen resolution settings. Im testing this at home on a laptop connected to a TV but at work there is a primary monitor and a projecor. I dont have an NVIDIA card to test with but the machines at work do have a PCI-e nvidia GPU with the latest drivers installed, i dont know if you can force it through the drivers or not. I usually dont like to post as i like to figure things out for myself but im snowed under at the mo optimising our esx clusters and configuring the ASA EDIT: after a bit of messing around i found i did have a few probs running it as a limited user, i changed it to run as users and that seemed to fix the access denied error. still trying to get it to run after a first login. is there an event somewhere thats logged that i can use to trigger the event? This is all still on my home laptop (workgroup) so could all go wrong in the morning anyway ha

Hi, As far as I know, if you apply extended display switch, the display mode is set to extended automatically when use logs on. You can move your mouse to extended display.
