Scheduled Windows 7 Backup fails on mass-deployed SYSPREP imaged machines
I've created a master image that includes a daily scheduled backup to a secondary internal hard drive. When I deploy this image to computers with an identical hardware configuration as the master computer, the backup fails because Windows 7 Backup is looking for the exact hard drive (the hard drive device ID does not match) that the original backup schedule was created on. Is there a way to make Windows 7 Backup ignore the device, but backup to a location? (which is the same on all computers). If not, can a scheduled backup job be scripted from a command prompt? I had a similar problem with Windows XP (though it was an issue with credentials, not a device ID), but I was able to get around the problem by automating the creation of the backup jobs with a script that ran on first boot after the syspreped image was applied to the hardware. Is this an option with Windows 7?

Hi, How do you know the Windows Backup need to look for the exact hard drive? Otherwise, I found that you can set up Windows Backup to run just about any way you wish and also create a task in task scheduler to run the wbadmin command weekly to create the system image.
