Picsoe - Here's where to find it:1.) Click the Start Orb and type Scanner2.) Click on View Scanners and Cameras in the results. Accept any UAC warnings that may pop up.3.) Look to see if the device you're looking for is listed on the dialog box.4.) If you don't see the device listed, make sure the device is plugged in and connected properly then click on the Refresh button.5.) If you still don't see the device in question, click on Add Device - this will launch the Scanner and Camera Wizard - Once again, if there's a UAC prompt, acknowledge it. Note: The wizard will prompt you to pick your device from the list. If your camera or scanner isn't listed, you will need to get drivers from the manufacturer's web site or on a CD. Click the Have Disk option and browse for the driver's location.

Thanks for your quick reaction Wolfie :-)That is how I got to it too.But there should be an exe-file somewhere to start it directly - or am I mistaking ?Regards Picsoe

Picsoe - Maybe... The logic in the Help file is pretty sound though - You aren't likely to need the wizard unless Windows can't figure out what's been plugged into it and that's likely why access to it is limited to the Add Device on the list of scanners and cameras.

Hi Mr. SevenThanks for your post.I have not lost the WFS.exe shortcut along the road :-))But that is not the one that I was looking for - it is the "Scanner and Cameras Installation Wizard" window that I am interested in.It allowsfor theevent-settings for my scanner-buttons. I am unable to find the shortcut to this.Any clue where to find it ?Thanks Regards Picsoe

If I open control panel and open devices and printers I can make a shortcut of the scanner sittingthere to the desktop and if I double click it thewill scanner interface will open directly without fax. From here I can add remove or modify scan profiles. Alternitavly, if I right click this shortcut I can select scan profiles.

If I open control panel and open devices and printers I can make a shortcut of the scanner there and from this I can right click the shortcut and select 'scan profiles' - was this is what you are trying to access? Also, double clicking on this shortcut opens the scan wizard directly from where I can select any profile I add to it. Nope, that is not the one that I am looking for.Allow me to guide you to it :Start-knob - Help & Support - Search for Scanner - Go to "Working with the Scanner & Camera Installation Wizard" - Go to "To start the Scanner & Camera Installation Wizard"- Go to "Click to open Scanners & Cameras".That's the one I am looking for.Regards Picsoe

Picsoe, I have deleted this post in protest of some moderator deleting around 5 of my other posts today. Those posts were in protest of some other person's continued biased remarks, which seem practically sponsored in this forum.

Picsoe, here, try this. After going thru the steps to bring it up, then, while it's still running, bring up TaskMgr. Find it on the Applications (first) tab. Right-click it, and Go To Process. There, right-click that processand Open File Location. From there, youcan make a Shortcut or pin it to StartMenu. With this trick, you can make a shortcut to any program that has been launched. Works also great. Thanks a lot guys - I have got 2 solutions in no timefor the price of one :-))Regards Picsoe

This looks like it is for the scanner and camer installtion wizard. The Scanner and Camera Wizard would allow us to download pictures from the camera to a file of our choice under a name we chose. I have tried to download this but I think it is not available for Windows 7. That stinks because I haven't found a way to do this in windows 7. After I download the pictures I have to go and manually re-name them. Hardly an improvement from XP. I use my old laptop, with XP, to download my pictures then transfer them to my new desktop with Wnidows 7. I wonder if there is a feature in Windows 7 that would allow me to download pictures like the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard.

Seriously...if anyone has an answer to this, I'd love to hear it. I loved how Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard would allow me to give real names to my uploaded photos so they were easy to find later. I've always organized my photos by year/season/month, and liked naming my photos what they actually were (e.g., Joey's 15th Birthday) etc. If anyone finds a way in Win7 to do this, please share!!

I also don't like how I can no longer preview the pictures...I don't always get to my computer after each "event" in our lives, so in order to name my photos correctly, I need to see them. The new Windows 7 Import feature just "blindly" imports all the photos with the folder you choose...I'd like more options please!! Thanks!

OK! I found a great workaround!! I recently bought a new PC with Win 7 pre-installed. The other day, I saw there were some Windows live updates that needed installing. One of the things it installed was Windows Live Photo Gallery. This time, when I plugged my camera in and the PC recognized it, the autoplay window provided several selections. I chose "Import Pictures and Videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery" This works JUST like the old XP Scanner and Camera wizard, but even a little better. It showed me previews of what was on my camera (grouped together in little folders, but you also have the option to view them all), it gave me the option to name that group of photos, and even provided options (you need to click on More Options) for WHERE I wanted to store them, in my case, beneath my tidy little year/season/month folders. I think this is a happy medium and I'll be using this going forward. One thing...it DID ask me for my Windows Live login, which I did have. If you don' have a Windows Live ID, you may have to get one, but it's free and easy to do. I did not synronize my photos with Windows Live...I'm happy with them on my HD, and I use Picasa for web uploads anyway. I hope this helps a struggling Win7 photo migrator!

While the shortcut already posted works for cameras connected via USB, it didn't work for my SD card. Using Microsoft Sysinternals' Processxp, I found that the actual Windows 7 "Import Pictures and Videos" wizard can be launched via this shortcut, which allows you to choose which device to import from: "%SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe" "%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Windows Photo Viewer\photoAcq.dll",PhotoAndVideoAcquire
