Says network cable unplugged but its not
Ok so we got a new modem and ended up having to reinstally the router..everything reconnected to the router perfectly except for one xp computer which was working fine with the old modem and is compatable to the new one. but it says the network cable is not plugged in when it is. I even tried switcing cables with one I knew was working from another computer and got same error. I tried to plug it directly into the modem...same problem. I cannot repair the connection cause Repair is greyed out. If I try to run ipconfig..it says I dont have an ip address or anything. Myhusband tried using ip renew and we got an error saying it couldnt access teh dns server...bt when we rebooted..now its back to the network cable unplugged problem.any suggestions? Keep in mind I am not all tht understanding on the technical wordsEDIT- ok so my husband tried ip renew and now it says limited or no connectivity..but when i try to do repair ti says it cannot obtain an ip. Ran the Network tools and it is failing to access the DNS server? Router checked out fine and everythign else conected to it works great2 people need an answerI do too

I am facing a somewhat similar problem with my connection (via an Ethernet Hub), although I am using it to access the Net. It used to work fine untill the other day when my Internet Service Provider did some miscreant upgradation that messed up everything. When I plug in the cable, it shows "Cable Unplugged..."After, say 2 minutes, the message changes to "Acquiring IP address... " and the network icons start to animate. Then it displays "The connection has limited or no connectivity... " and stays like that for a while. Though, eventually the network gets connected, but it takes ages for this "process" to finish. Regards,Shah Fahim
