Save and Grid keyboard shortcuts overlap in Spanish version of Paint
In the Spanish version of Paint Ctrl+G is shown to be a shortcut for Save, and Ctrl+D a shortcut to show/hide the grid. However, Ctrl+G shows/hides the grid and Ctrl+D does nothing. There is no shortcut for Save. Ctrl+S does nothing either (it's shortcut for Save in English versions of most programs).

Hi,According to the following Microsoft Office website, the Ctrl+G is used to show/hide the gridlines, the Ctrl+S is used to save changes to a picture. http://windows.microsoft.com/es-es/windows7/Keyboard-shortcuts So, please let us know if your current system is still Spanish Win7, and when the issue began to happen. If the issue just happened recently, you can try system restore to restore your machine before this issue occured. If you can't fix it via system restore, please run SFC /Scannow command in an elevated Command Prompt window. To do so, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. Please let us know if any corrupted system file is found.According to my test, once I choose the Spanish display, it shows Ctrl-G (Guardar) for "Save" and Ctrl-D (fancy letter for "Cuadrícula") for "... grid", but when I press Ctrl-G, the gridlines would come out, and nothing happens when I press Ctrl+D and Ctrl+S. I hope this can help you. John

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I'm positively running Spanish Win7. I have System Restore deactivated, but I ran SFC /Scannow and it reported that it didn't find any integrity violations. Is there a chance that the article is simply a translation of the shortcuts found in English Win7? Because if I open up Paint and hover over Save and Show/Hide grid, this is what I get: http://i46.tinypic.com/20r33x0.png

As I'm using no native Spanish version but switching to a Spanish display (MUI) often, I can only confirm this problem for multilingual versions. There exists this problem, indeed. The English display shows Ctrl-S (Save) for "Save" and Ctrl-G (Grid) for "Show/don't show grid", both shortcuts work. The Spanish display shows Ctrl-G (Guarda) for "Save" and Ctrl-D (fancy letter for "cuadrícula") for "... grid", but pressing Ctrl-G works like in English, Ctrl-D and Ctrl-S do nothing. It seems that not only the quoted article is confused but the system, too. Perhaps someone translated the shortcuts and forgot to adjust the underlying commands? I agree with Sanmartin, we have the same result while using the Spanish display. Gabrielmaldi, if your Windows 7 is Spanish version, this issue should be a bug. Since we have no trouble in the English display, if you can install the English MUI, you can switch to English display to avoiding this issue. I hope this can help you.John

I wasn't sure if i was running a native Spanish system or using a MUI, so I went to Control Panel --> Clock, Language, and Region --> Install or uninstall display languages --> Uninstall display languages. The only entry is Español (español) with Type MUI but its Message is "El idioma es el idioma del sistema (idioma predeterminado de la interfaz de usuario)." which translates to "Language is the system language (default language of the user interface) ". Does this mean that Spanish is the native language of the system or that it is the language currently in use? If it is native then it should be a bug, as stated by John.

If you can't uninstall Spanish because it is the system language (it shows an exclamation mark), then yes, you're using a native Spanish OS (Ultimate, I suppose). And it is most likely a bug because the problem only appears if the letters of the shortcuts differ from the original ones. If the foreign shortcuts show other translations but the letters stay the same, all works like intented. F.ex.: The German shortcuts read Strg-S (= Ctrl-S) for "Speichern" (= Save) and Strg-G (= Ctrl-G) for "Gitternetzlinien" (= Grid), the translations show completely different words but, fortunately, the initial letters are the same.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (50G),D:WIN7 (30G),F:DATA (250G)

I can't uninstall Spanish (it shows the exclamation mark), so this is a bug. I don't really know how to report it (thought it was here).
