Sao Paulo Brazil EV Site

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or assistance!

We recently deployed a 2010 SBA at a site in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They are using Telefonica for their local E1s, and I'm running into issues with the dial plan distinction between numbers IN Sao Paulo, and those in surrounding areas. The original dial plan was established using Ken Lasko's optimizer, and the local route is ^\+5511(([2-9]\d{7}|[34]00\d(5)))$

Local calls (IN Sao Paulo) like +55 11 2200 5000 would be completed with Telefonica by simply dialing 2206-5000

Locals calls (around SP) like +55 11 4800 2800 require 011 4800 2800

The problem is Telefonica is unwilling to provide the range that is designated IN SP, and therefore doesn't require the 011 to deliver the call. Obviously this would make life pretty easy to normalize on the trunk to prepend 011 where needed.

TL;DR - Does anyone have the "local" range for Sao Paulo that does not require 011 to complete the call?

Thanks!

Hi,

From your description above, did you mean the PSTN provider have the special normalization rule for the outbound number from Lync Server side?

If it is the case, you can modify the outbound normalization rule using Lync Server Control Panel-- Voice Routing--Trunk Configuration, then you can create/modify in the part of "Calling number translation rules". Modify to the suitable normalization rule for the PSTN Provider. Such as remove the 011 prefix on the trunk configuration.

Hi Eason,

Thank you for your reply. You are correct in that for certain regions around Sao Paulo, they do require the 011 to be dialed to complete the call. My problem isn't knowing how to add that on the trunk normalization, but what the actual range is. I was hoping someone who has deployed a site in Sao Paulo, or knows of a way to find out, could help provide insight as to what region / digit range requires the 011 and which doesn't. I can administer the rules, I just need to know what range to apply it to. I hope this helps clarify my request and thanks again for your reply!

Hey,

I've had the exact same experience with Telefonica in Brazil. I tried for MONTHS to get them to give me a list of ranges that were local to a specific area in Brazil (wasn't Sao Paulo).  The closest thing to useful I got out of them was a list of towns, but with no associated number range.  I did happen to find a website that spelled out the local dialing ranges (to a certain extent) for a given city, but it wasn't in a format that I could parse for the Optimizer site. I'm trying to find it now, but haven't had any luck.

I wish I had a better answer for you.  Believe me, I feel your Brazilian pain (and its not the waxing kind either). Keep hammering at Telefonica.

Thanks Ken.

I ended up doing a work around for a user defined 015 before the 11 for it to be sent to the PSTN as 015 11 2xxx xxxx

In the end if someone dials a number and they're prompted by the carrier "you must dial...." message, they dial it with 015. Since I got nowhere with Telefonica, it was the easiest.

Local calls: 2208 1234 > normalized as +551122081234 > Sent to PSTN as 2208 1234

LD calls: 015 2208 1234 > normalized as +55151122081234 > Sent to PSTN as 015 11 2208 1234

Worky!

I apologize for the delayed response, but found myself with some free time this morning so thought I'd share the end result. Thanks again to everyone who contributed.

Hi all,

Just had an update from our SP site that they are making some new changes. Thought I'd pass along on this thread as it's relevant.

---------------------------------

On Oct 11, 2015 some states of Brazil will change their cell phone numbers, following the example of So Paulo (+55 11 9 9813-6964), a ninth digit will be added to the mask. See the table below:

Minas Gerais

+55 31 xxxx-xxxx

to

+55 31 9 xxxx-xxxx

+55 32 xxxx-xxxx

to

+55 32 9 xxxx-xxxx
