Samsung External USB Blu ray drive SE-506BB not recognizing Blu ray disks

My drive reads and writes DVDs but when I insert a Blu ray disk (BD-R) is says there is no disk in the drive. In Printers and Devices, it shows as MT1956.  In the Device Manager under CDROM, it shows as TSSTcorp BDDVDW SE-506BB USB device.

I have updated the firmware but still the same result.

Is there a windows 8 driver for blu ray devices?  I notice that it is using cdrom.sys as a driver.

Please advise.

did it worked before (play blue ray disc)?

I suggest you contact device manufactured

some of ODD Blue ray need extra software (player or codec) in order to play blue ray disc

just try to use different DVD blue ray disc to test

The USB port on your computer may not have sufficient power to properly run your Samsung external BD drive. This appears to be a somewhat common problem for this drive and does not matter what type of computer that you are using. I would suggest that you get a USB hub that is powered which should provide the power needed for the Samsung drive.

If needed, you could go to Microsoft Tsstcorp Bddvdw Se-506bb Usb Device to download a USB d
