Hello, after installing SP1 for Vista I constantly get networking problems with my Intel PRO/1000 MT Server Adaptor as well as the Intel PRO/1000 MT Workstation/Dekstop Adaptor on Dell Vostro 400 Pcs. I'm using Vista Business 32 bit, there are no firewall programs on the client pcexcept for the integratedwindows firewall. The sympoms are that I can not access the network and a ping show lost packets. The problem persists for 10 to 15 seconds and then everything is working for about 20 seconds until the problem is starting again. I get repeated disconnects from the network one could say. When having a look at the link- and activity-leds on the nic itself I can see that both are turning dark as soon as the problem occurs. This isn't a normal behaviour as the lights should stay on! Before SP1 I didn't have these problems and the lights on the nic stayed on. The status of the lan connection in Vista's networking center cycles between "deactivated, network enviornment detection (don't know the exact english notation) and connected" all the time :-( I tried the new nic driver from Windowsupdate that became available after the installation of SP1 but it didn't solve the problem. Even the latest driver from www.intel.com with version 8.3.9.0 from 08.01.2008 doesn't help. My next was to fix the speed/duplex at 1000/full which didn't help so I went back to auto/auto. I don't know what else to do. For now I have switched back the the onboard 100m nic but I'd like to use my Intel PRO/1000. Any ideas what one could do? Thanks, Gunther

Hello Stephen, great idea and thanks for your help. I found an even simpler solution: throw your computer out of the window and buy a new one. Problem solved. You are getting that your hint wasn't really let's say "helpful"? My solution was to uninstall vpc and use vmware instead. Not what I inteded - but at least it's working. I'm still hoping to find a solution though.

Hello, the problem could be solved by completely erasing the system, installing Vista again, then the SP and after all the Virtual PC. That sucks pretty much, but anywy.. now things are working again. Thanks for your suport.
