SHARING INTERNET
hi all, just found this forum, having searched and searched for about 3days looking for a solution.Hope to get solution on this forum i have 2 desktop computers which are connected using a auto negotiation switch (Intex IT801PP ) and a modem to share internet .On one of the computer I am using Windows XP SP2 and on other Windows7 Ultimate .Now the the problem is that I am unable share internet among both the computers , when both the computers where on then i can use internet on both the machines ,even if ,after this when one of the computer turned off then also i can use internet on the other machine. But If I restart the computer or swtich off it and later want to use internet again on any one of the machine then unable to do that , it shows problem like "server not found" .And able to use internet only when other machine also turned on .So finally I can not use internet on one PC until the the other is tured on I tried many thing to resolve this problem and made changes in advanced setting in win7 and xp too ,setting a home/workgroup network etc. I have no idea what else to try. I truly hope someone here can help me - the only other cost effective solution i have is to downgrade my pc back to xp,and i don't really want to... thanks, -NIHIT

Since both computers are connected to a switch, it sounds like one of the computers may be running PPoE software to log you on to the ISP's internet connection? If this is the case, you should install a consumer router that has the ability to "log-on" to your ISP so your internet is "always on". I recomend this design: Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
