Start from installation DVD and use recovery option. (It does not hurt if you specify the history of installation, updates, change of configuration.)

Hi,
You could perform In-Place upgrade to repair your system.

While in-place upgrade is considered last resort before full reinstall, I have solved some problems, where really quiet Windows were neded, by starting computer from installation DVD and instead of vanilla plain install I give chance to UPGRADE. This
procedure removes IE 9 and no other "harm" has been observed.

I mean boot from Windows 7 installation medium like as if you install vanilla plain operating system, but instead of new install choose
UPGRADE. The trick stems from the fact that no process from current Windows 7 is running.

If you want to reinstall the ATI driver, you may download from manufacture website and install it or upgrade from Windows Update.Ivan-Liu
