SCEP 2012 R2 SP1 causes Mozilla Thunderbird latest version to hang

We are having issues with several clients where Thunderbird is hanging due to SCEP.  We are running the latest version of Thunderbird and the latest version of SCEP

SCEP: 4.7.214.0

Mozilla Thunderbird: 38.2.0

Has anyone else had this issue?  The only thing I can think of is simply to exclude the Thunderbird profile folder from SCEP, but I read that RTP doesn't use paths with wildcards in it.  I am not sure how it would be possible to exlude the thunderbird profile folder without using wildcards.

%systemdrive%\users\*\appdata\Roaming\Thunderbird

I would also prefer not to exclude the Thunderbird folder as this is a very important place to scan for viruses in incoming email.  Anyone else have this issue?

I read that RTP doesn't use paths with wildcards in it.

This has been a point of confusion for me as well. There are a few very old sources that mention this for FEP (like: http://blogs.technet.com/b/clientsecurity/archive/2010/03/08/wildcards-in-path-exclusions.aspx)

but I believe they are no longer valid for the current version of SCEP. Your example exclusion should be valid, according to this KB:

4.8.204.0 (KB304956) is actually the latest client version. I would update and see if you can still reproduce the problem

I have upgraded to 4.8.204.0 and we are still having the same issue.
