SBS 2008 Connect Wizard - undo changes
Hi there, I've just tried connecting a clients laptop to their SBS 2008 domain using the Connect computer wizard via the web browser. However, the wizard crashed after the first restart, and now the laptop only logs in as __sbs_netsetup__. I've tried logging into the laptop using his old details, however that doesn't work either, and I've tried logging in using his new domain username and password but again that doesn't work. Is there any way that I can revert the laptop back to how it was before I ran the Connect wizard, and then start again with it? Many thanks, James

Hi James, I have encountered this problem, and this is the solution: First of all, you need to log on as some kind of administrator, local or domain. 1. Then, clean up the failed domain join: Delete the computer account from AD, preferably from the SBS Console, if it exists. 2. Make sure the laptop is disjoined from the domain, i.e. on a workgroup. 3. Rename the laptop to the name it will have in the SBS domain - VERY IMPORTANT 4. Run the http://connect program again, but DO NOT CHANGE THE SUPPLIED COMPUTER NAME. 5. The program should run correctly, and reboot without errors.

PS: At this stage, I think you should be able to log on as the domain admin (assuming his laptop is connected to the network).
