SBS 2003 and Windows 7 Beta
Has anyone been able to join Windows 7 Beta to a SBS 2003 domain? I am trying to run it in VPC2007 and join it to my SBS2003 domain.I get the "connect computer" wizard and run through all the screens and get:"An error occured when configuring networking settings. See your network administrator."Then when I restart the VPC, it shows the "_sbs_netsetup_" account as a user option.

Yes, I get the same error. Evidently there is a hotfix in the works that remedies the problem, according to an earlier post. It seems that long domain names can interfere with the registration process with the DC. I tried joining the SBS server manually as well, and you'll get a "parameter is incorrect" error message.

The problem is related to IE8. You will have to natively join the domain then move the computer to the correct OU.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Thanks for that.\\server\connectcomputer ...it unfortunately leaves SBS_NetSetup user running everytime ...asking for a password.OK manually joined Windows7 to the domain and moved it to correct OU.Maybe if we'd turned off the security prompting it would have completed??Will check SBSNetsetup.log delete the local user SBS_NetSetup and see how it goes.CheersOut_theBack

I have natively joined my SBS 2003 domain and in the beginning it did work. Then after a day however, all my network recources were blocked. My network mappings did not connect anymore and i could not browse any of the network resources. It asked for an administrator password, wich i provided and then i got a message that no access is allowed.Because i work with roaming profiles, i renamed my profile with the hope that a new profile would be created, but unsuccesfull. I then tryed to create new security groups, specific for Windows 7, but that also did not solve the problem. Turning off the windows Firewall, did neither solve the problem. What's next?
