Runtime Error
I have been running Windows 7 beta since it was first given away in January and everything I have installed on it is running very well and I really like Win7.I have one problem however which might force me to quit Win7 and revert to my dual boot system of Vista.I installed Serif MoviePlus X3 soon after installing Win7 and use it exetensively for video editing. The program has been running fine since installation but it now refuses to start, giving the following message:-Nicrosoft Visual C++ Runtime LibraryRuntime Error!Program: C:\Program Files..........\MoviePlus.exeThis application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. The only thing I remember happening between the program working and not working was that I went through an aborted installation of of a wireless keyboard (since installed correctly)I have tried a system restore, I have cleaned the registry, I have uninstalled and reinstalled MP X3,I have tried running as an administrator and in Vista compatibilty mode.I have tried updating the Visual C Runtime http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en as suggested elsewhere on MS Technet.I have googled extensively and find that it is a very common problem in lots of programs, not restricted to MoviePlus and going back as far as WinXP. Googling "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" shows up 51,000 topics. I have read quite a lot of them but I have yet to find a solution.I am beginning to think that nothing short of a format and reinstall of the operating system will solve it.I'm hoping you guys on this forum are a bit more expert than most and give me some guidance.Fortunately I have a working installation of MoviePlus on my Vista installation which works ok and if I can't fix the problem on Window7 sytem I'm going to have to go back to VistaI'll be grateful for any assistance. Thanks

Hi TQgrump Googling "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" shows up 51,000 topics. I have read quite a lot of them but I have yet to find a solution. This error message is very generic and the cause depends on the operating system + the application that generates the error + the system files that are being accessed when the error appears.Since Windows 7 is still in the beta process, this can also involve all of the debugging code that is present on the system.I would recommend that you cut your losses and reinstall Windows 7, using the Upgrade Option. Make sure that MoviePlus X3 is uninstalled first. The Upgrade Install should not affect the other currently installed programs or data, but any important data should be backed up first, just in case something goes awry.Start Windows 7.Place the installation DVD in the drive. When the installation window appears, follow the instructions and select the Upgrade Installation option. This will completely rebuild Windows 7 and should solve the problem.Let us know the results. Yes, Ronnie, that has fixed it!It would have been nice to have a quicker fix, but all I lost was a few hours away from the computer while it installed so perhaps not a bad thing after all.MoviePlus reinstalled and works properly again and all my other programs survived ok.Thanks,Tony
