Running an executable from DFS Share
This issue can be caused by UAC in Windows 7. Please refer to: Some Programs Cannot Access Network Locations When UAC Is Enabled http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844140(WS.10).aspx The issue is also related to the design of the programs. Based on our previous tests, all *.msi files can be run from network. However we cannot be assure whether any *.exe files that are published by other developers can work properly. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I am having a small issue with running executables from our DFS Share... I log onto the client device - browse out to the share and attempt to run the executable. It gives me an error that *Path* The directory name is invalid. I am not allowed to run as admin or normal credentials. I can copy the exe to the desktop and it runs just fine - installs perfect! I have logged into each DFS server and "unblocked" the executables through the properties... reassured that I can install it from this path on other machines... working just fine! Can anyone throw me some ideas??? I have also reassured that DNS is configured and properties are set correctly! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
