Running FixIt in safe mode
I'm posting this in Windows 7 Security as well. Does Microsoft allow FixIt to be run in Safe Mode, or allow it to be run on a hard drive connected by an external hard drive enclosure? The issue behind this is a workstation that has been compromised by malware. Forefront claims that the drive is now clean, but I wanted to run the recommended post clean up steps listed here in Safe Mode. http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/entry.aspx?Name=Win32/Sirefef Any ideas from anyone or is this a feature that either wasn't truely considered or scratched from development due to the complexity of the software tool. Hi, As far as i know, you can't run FixIt in safe mode.Would you please let us know what is the Fixit you want to run and what to want to achieve exactly? If you want to scan virus, you can try safe mode or plug this disk to other computer to have a scan. Thanks.

Summer, I was performing some of the post cleanup actions listed in the security article I listed above. I had already run Forefront in Safe Mode and on the HDD attached to an enclosure device. At the very bottom of the article it suggests running firewall repair and security settings. In the extremely rare event that the malware still was active and hiding on the machine I was hoping to fix the errors in safe mode to prevent any remote connections that would null any changes that FixIt would make. Ultimately we had to reformat the drive and treat it a a new machine.C5rookie
