You can add a shortcut to the program to your Startup folder. SC Tom -There's no such thing as TMI when asking for tech support.

Hi How can I run a program during the windows 7 PC startup. The program is configued to run with elivated rights. I do not want to use scheduled tasks option. Why? Otherwise you have to allow it each time? I'm using the scheduled tasks option for 4 years now."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I did not wanted to use schedule task, as I have to run it through a script. I finally ended up creating a schedule task with my script to schedule a program to run at the next reboot, as I do not find any other reliable alternative on windows 7.Regards, Madan

I still say put a shortcut to the program in the Startup folder. I've used that on all versions of Windows with great success, and no problems. SC Tom -There's no such thing as TMI when asking for tech support.

If the shortcut is set to run with elivated rights then the program won't start on windows 7. Could you check and confirm.Regards, Madan

Could you check and confirm. yes, I don't know why Tom suggested this. I think only he knows this."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I think only he knows this. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I have three programs that start when Win7 starts, and they are all in my Startup folder. All three are for "All users" and one is "Run as Admin." Is there something else that you are trying to do? You never did mention the program name, so maybe the difference is there, I don't know. When a program requires admin rights, you get a notification to unblock it. And he doesn't want this, so the task scheduler workaround is the only way."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Run process explorer and check the security settings of the program. Does it really have high IL? What is the name of the tool? What are your UAC settings? Have you tut the slider to the button? The IL is high. What security settings are you interested in? I have the slider all the way to the bottom on this laptop (Never Notify). I am the only user on it, with no one else having access to it- that may explain the lack of notifications. I see your point. Thank you for the explanations.
