Routing/firewall help
I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem relating to hosting websites at home? I have everything set up and it seems to work fine but the problem I have is while external people can see my site fine, People on my home lan where the webserver is cannot. The reason is anything complicated like PHP & SQL are referencing the address of the site and for some reason instead of being directed to my webserver I am prompted to log in to the web interface of my router. I rmember with my previous ISP "BE" the fix was to telnet in to the router and turn off an option so the router no longer did this. Im sure the solution will be similar here but i dont know what im looking for. To make matters worse my ISP is sky and they wont allow you to use anything other than there standard router which is locked down and useless. Any ideas what i need to do from a general technical standpoint? For anyone interested im running a Qnam 409u NAS, with php my admin and wordpress, im on a dynamic ip so using dyndns.org also.

Hi, Based on your description, I understand that the issue occurred before and the symptom was resolved by modifying the router. First, I suggest you also involve the router’s manufacturer for further assistance. Meanwhile, you can temporarily turn off firewall on the client machine and the router(if it has) to check the result. If the issue persists, please capture the error message when the hosting websites cannot be accessed at home and upload it to Skydrive (www.skydrive.live.com), and then share the link to me for research. Note: Since the issue may be caused by router and server side, you may also need involve the server support and SQL support for further suggestion. Hi cheers for the input. In the end I seem to have resolved the issue at least for the most part by altering the hosts file on my machine to point queries for my website to a local IP. I think thats the best im going to do without a more flexible router. Now im having new issues where my "wordpress" application installed on the server wont accept any uploads because it doesn't think it has permission to create folders in its own install directory on the web server... Grumble =P

Hi, Since the WordPress is a third party program which we do not have enough knowledge about it. I suggest you also involve the manufacturer for further assistance. Thank you for your understanding.
