Router stops upon login with Windows 7 wireless
Linksys WRT110 router. 3 wired XP machines, Dell Vista wireless, Windows Vista laptop wireless, old Acer XP laptop wireless. This all works perfectly until the Toshiba Tecra tablet PC with Windows 7 Ultimate logs on. Entire network shuts down, and the router has to be unplugged and reset. Then it works for sometimes quite a while, then might shut down spontaneously. Any ideas are appreciated as it's getting old!

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Upgrade or refresh the router firmware. If the issue persists, please re-configure its settings without encryption. 2. Upgrade the Wireless network adapter driver for the Windows 7 machine and temporarily turn off firewall on this machine. 3. Temporarily turn off Windows 7 machine and check whether the network can work fine. Thanks, Novak

You aren't seriously recommending that this person run a wireless network with"no security" as a solution? On Tue, 9-Feb-10 08:25:39 GMT, Novak Wu wrote: ..... If the issue persists, please re-configure its settings without encryption.Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com

Hi Barb and Aznervedoc, I'm sorry that I did not write clearly in my last reply. Configuring Wireless network settings without encryption is only a troubleshooting step. Please turn on encryption at once when the troubleshooting step is completed. It is only for testing. Thanks, Novak

Hi aznervedoc,Has the maximum number of users been changed in the router's advanced configuration? The default is 50.Do the other wireless computers have the network security encryption option for WPA2? or a least WPA? Win 7 is not very happy with WEP. Perhaps changing the encryption method to a higher level would help. The WRT110 is not listed in the Win 7 compatible list here. Linksys may not have invested the resources for the logo or it may not work well with Win 7.
