Rootkit causes my pc to not load my user account.
One day I tried logging on to my user account but it said something like windows could not load the file, it may have been corrupted, or something like that. Then it tells me it will load a temporary account and any changes made will not be saved when I log off. I did a whole computer search with AVG 8 (free) but came back with nothing. So I did a rootkit scan and gave me 2 files. These are the files it gave me:C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfsnifs.sysI believe both were the same files. No other user accounts were harmed, but all of my files and documents are missing. I don't think they're gone, just missing.1 person needs an answerI do too

It also said something about an IRP Hook, if that helps.

The description of your problem describes a typical "corrupted profile" problem. This is a fairly common occurrence. Sometimes running a "chkdsk /r" will fix this problem and should be your first attempt to fix the problem:"How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 >If this does not work, follow the instructions in one of the following two KB articles:"How to recover the damaged user profile in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555473 >"How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151 >I personally doubt that a rootkit has anything to do with this.HTH, JW
