Roaming profile and group policy errors on Windows7
Hi, I have almost 60 computers ( XP and W2000) on which each user can log on with the profile stored in a special folder on the Domain controller ( a W2008 and a W2003 server have this role ). In Active directory there are group policies for several groups of users and everything works fine (folders are redirected, drives and actions are inhibited only a list of applications are allowed , active desktop is set to a http internal page and so on) . When I joined a new W7 to the domain and tried to log on (with an old user but also with a new created user) there is an error message that says that the roaming profile could not be found (and application event 1521 shows the same thing) There are information events (501) in application log like "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder "Documents" to "\\dc01\Financiar...". "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder "Startup" to "\\dc01\Custom\Financiar.." " Successfully applied policy and redirected folder "Programs" to "\\dc01\Custom\Financiar..." but there is no program listed in Start-> All programs - there is also an event (10016) that appears and might be related but I don't know how to handle it : "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {24FF4FDC-1D9F-4195-8C79-0DA39248FF48} and APPID {B292921D-AF50-400C-9B75-0C57A7F29BA1} to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool." As a have no experience with W7 I need your help to make it work in the current environment . Thanks a lot, Raluca

Hi, Please be aware that there are Version 1 user profiles and Version 2 user profiles, if you create the Version 1 roaming profile, it will not work with Windows Vista or Windows 7 client. I would like to share the following article with you: Managing Roaming User Data Deployment Guide Note: this article also applies to Windows 7. Hope it helps.
